New Wine Discipleship Year Placements at St Mellitus & St Paul’s 2019/20
We are looking for New Wine Discipleship Year Students at the St Paul’s Ealing family of churches
St Mellitus Hanwell
We are offering one full time Discipleship Year placements here at St Mellitus in Hanwell) beginning in September 2019; working with our children & young people and other areas of church life. There will also be opportunities to serve and gain experience in other areas of church life at our partner church, St Paul’s and you will be working and serving alongside the DY students based there. St Mellitus will provide accommodation with other DY students and young adults, and will provide some financial support including help with fees.
St Paul’s Ealing
Our partner church St Paul’s Ealing (see http://stpaulsealing.com) are offering two full time Discipleship Year placements beginning in September 2019; one working in our Youth ministry and the other within our Children’s ministry. There will also be opportunity to serve and gain experience in other areas of church life at St Paul’s depending on students gifting and passion (for example worship, women’s ministry, social action work). We provide accommodation with other DY students and young adults, and will provide some financial support including help with fees.
What are we looking for?
At the St Paul’s family of churches, we are looking to invest in dynamic, committed and teachable young adults (18-24) who want to grow as disciples and serve Jesus and his Kingdom. We believe this year will equip you for a lifetime of fruitfulness. As we seek to reach out and develop other churches in the local area we are also looking for people with an innovative and pioneering spirit.
As part of the placement you will spend one day a week with the New Wine Discipleship Year Ealing Hub, which involves gathering with other DY students from around West London for great teaching, training and equipping to grow as disciple-making disciples of Jesus. You’ll also have an opportunity to go overseas on a short-term mission trip and be part of two DY weekends away as part of the year.

The New Wine Discipleship Year
In a nutshell, the Discipleship Year is about growing as disciples of Jesus, learning how to serve him and his Kingdom with the whole of your life, for the whole of your life. We want you to become Disciple-Making Disciples. It will take you on a life-changing journey of discovery and adventure, where you’ll be inspired, get practical Kingdom experience, make life-long friendships, and have a lot of fun in the process!
The Discipleship Year is for ANYONE aged 18-24 looking to:
Grow confidence in who God has made you to be
Discover the purpose he has for your life
Get involved by serving in a local church
Discover, exercise and nurture your spiritual gifts and passions
Be challenged to step out, risk and see God work through you
Experience the adventure of overseas mission
The Discipleship Year gives eight hours a week in teaching, training and equipping you to grow as a disciple of Jesus. Alongside this you’ll be mentored, coached and invested in by local church leaders. The teaching will cover a number of core subjects including growing a secret life with God, strengthening your identity in Christ, the Kingdom of God & the ministry of Jesus, understanding and applying the Bible today, evangelism, leadership, character development and calling amongst others! You’ll learn from some inspirational and experienced leaders from different spheres of life, including church and the marketplace.
Each DY student serves in the local church and/or Christian organisation putting into practice all that you are learning. This could be in a variety of areas including youth and children’s work, social justice, worship, creative media, family ministry and evangelism. These placements are a minimum of 12hrs per week. Sometimes you will find your own accommodation and work part time to cover living expenses. However, other placements provide accommodation and some financial support with fees and living costs.
