Our response to Racism, Racial Injustice and the Black Lives Matter Movement
In the wake of the death of George Floyd, and the Black Lives Matter movement, we the church family of St Mellitus in Hanwell, want to reaffirm our commitment to tackling racism in all its forms. We are a diverse, multicultural church with an incredible legacy of being a place where all are welcome. Yet, we want to be a church that continues to listen and learn from the experiences of our precious Black brothers and sisters, and one that acts to bring healing, restoration and justice to our community.
Racism and racial inequality continues to claim lives and freedoms, and as a church community we will not remain silent on this injustice.
We are committed to learning and working with our church family to ensure that the lives of Black people and People of Colour, many of whom make up our diverse church community, continue to matter.
